ELS will be closed Tuesday, January 1, 2013 for New Year’s Day.
ELS will also be closed on Monday, January 21, 2013.
Several have asked about the up-coming Holiday hours. For Thanksgiving, ELS is out on Thursday and Friday, November 22nd and 23rd. For Christmas, ELS is out only on Christmas Day, December 25th. I don’t have New Year’s date, yet, but will post them when I find out. – HAPPY HOLIDAYS!!!
MARK YOUR CALENDARS!!! November 19th we will host our annual Thanksgiving Lunch for all ELS students. This is always a wonderful time to show our Thanksgiving traditions to students from around the world! I will need lots of help and will be posting more information in the future. We are expecting our brand new Grandson on that date, so I need back-up help! I will need a committee to help decorate on Sunday afternoon, November 18th, etc. If you would like to help in ANYWAY, just let me know and I will certainly get you involved.
On October 22nd and 23rd, 18 Latin American agents (along with 6 or 7 ELS people) visited our ELS Center here in Oklahoma City – we call it a “FAM Tour”. We hope these agents will fall in love with Oklahoma City and send their students to us. Nelson, our Center Director, hosted these agents and took them on a tour of our ELS Center, OCU and a Bus Tour around Oklahoma City. I emailed all our active homestays for ideas that the agents might enjoy and received so many great recommendations. I wanted to thank each and everyone of you for helping out!
Because of time restraints, we had to weed out a few of the suggestions. The agents stayed in the beautiful Residence Inn by Marriott in Bricktown and ate dinner at Toby Keith’s I Love That Bar and Grill. There were lots of things to do very near the hotel within walking distance, such as Toby Keith’s, Bass Pro Shops, and the Bricktown Canal, which is right behind the hotel, where they could take a walk at any time, and the Centennial Land Run Monument. The area is just beautiful!
The Driving tour included Regalia Park and the Boat House District on the Oklahoma River, Brick Town Ball Park, Devon Tower, Cox Center, Chesapeake Arena, Myriad Gardens and the Crystal Bridge, Oklahoma City Memorial, Oklahoma State Capitol, Lincoln Terrace Historic Neighborhood, Oklahoma History Museum, Heritage Hills and Mesta Park, and the Asian District before arriving back at OCU. Nelson reported they had a very good time and took lots of pictures!
Thanks again for your input!
On September 30th, Ashley Ledford became Mrs. Derek Glenn! They were married on a beautiful evening at the “Tres Suenos Vineyards & Winery” in Luther, Oklahoma. It was a lovely wedding and reception and many of our current ELS students attended the wedding. We are so happy for Ashley – please send her your “Congratulations”!
